The plug defined in SI 32 (IS16A-R) is used only in Israel and in territories of the State of Palestine (the West Bank and the Gaza Strip).update plugs with round pins. In 1989 new standard was publisehd, with three round 4.5 mm (0.177 in) pins in the same locations designed to allow the socket to accept both older and newer Israeli plugs, and non-earthed Europlugs (often used in Israel for equipment which does not need to be earthed and does not use more current than the Europlug is rated for). Pre-1989 sockets which accept only old-style plugs have become very rare in Israel. SI 32 plugs have no sleeve insulation, so when a plug is partially removed its prongs may still be powered although they can be touched by small fingers, metal objects, etc., with a risk of electric shock. Sockets have a defined polarity; if properly installed, looking at the front Neutral is to the left, Earth at the bottom, and Line to the right

IEC 60320 Connectors

Standards & Compliance
SI 32 Standard
The Type H plug is defined in SI 32, Israel’s mandatory standard for plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes. The original SI 32 design used three flat pins in a Y-shape, but the standard was revised in 1989 to use three round 4.0–4.5mm pins in the same positions. Modern Type H plugs are compatible with both older flat-pin and newer round-pin Israeli sockets.
Regulatory update — effective 8 August 2026: Israel’s Ministry of Economy has published the third amendment to Mandatory Standard SI 32 Part 1.1 in Government Gazette No. 12252, covering safety requirements for single-phase plugs and socket-outlets up to 16A. This amendment enters into force on 8 August 2026. Our production processes are aligned with the updated requirements, including the removal of certain insulation dimension requirements that were previously mandatory.
SII Certification
SII (Standards Institution of Israel) certification is mandatory for all power cords and plugs entering the Israeli market. The certification process requires documentation review, product testing, and factory compliance checks — it is not a self-declaration system. Key SII requirements for power cords include:
- Mains plug must comply with SI 32
- Cable must comply with SI 473 (Israeli cable standard)
- Wire color scheme must comply with SI 544

Testing performed on each production batch includes: electrical strength (Hi-Pot dielectric withstand), temperature rise, bending and pull tests, insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and grounding integrity.
